About Thurrock Play Network
Thurrock Play Network is an organisation that has non-profit making charitable status, celebrating our 21st birthday in 2020. We have a strong belief in the importance of play opportunities in the community and believe that play is for everyone, playing an important part in social, emotional and physical well-being. Besides outdoor play, encouraging creativity and recycling is a key element of what we do, sharing and celebrating some of our member’s wonderful skills.
TPN is dependent on grants and donations from individuals and local companies for us to achieve the level of support to our communities.
We work in partnership with a large number of individuals, voluntary and statutory groups, whether just sharing or providing resources or running sessions for them.
Over the years we have received funding to employ play rangers to work out in the parks, supported parents and children in schools with their projects, and organised community play events; our national playday in august being the largest, providing free activities.
TPN is managed by a group of trustees and committee members who share their skills, working hard to ensure that we are sustainable. In addition, we enjoy working with volunteers to work alongside our paid members of staff to help in the many jobs that need doing.

Meet The Team
I first joined TPN in 2002 as a Counter Assistant in The Pyramid, I quickly became involved in all aspects of TPN's many projects due to my background in play work and Community Projects (Manager/Playleader of TBC's Family Centre, ECC Social Services Dept, Chair of the School Association, Forum Committee Member).
I strongly believe there are NO limits nor barriers to Play & Recreation.
I am responsible for the day to day running of TPN including The Pyramid project, I love nothing more than being at the forefront of this amazing unique project and there are no tasks off limits to me!
I see your everyday throw away 'rubbish' as treasure not trash and feel passionate about upcycling, reusing and recycling instead of landfilling and causing harm to our environment..
I joined TPN as a volunteer in 2013, restocking the shelves, sorting scrap and helping at events. I loved its relaxed atmosphere and friendly feel then the opportunity arose for me to become the Development Officer and I grabbed it with both hands! I now organise events, apply for grants, liaise with sponsors and help with the running of The Pyramid Centre.
My role within Thurrock Play Network is mainly to keep the financial records up to date, including paying bills, banking, invoicing and generally ensuring the books balance, I also file the quarterly VAT Return, liaise with the Chairperson, Manager and Accountant, run the monthly payroll, collate information for monitoring reports for our Funders. There are many other non-finance tasks I undertake, from recording annual leave/TOIL, putting together the annual report and many other tasks needed as a team member.
I have worked for TPN since 2007 and organise collections and deliveries, I also carry out general handyman jobs and repairs within The Pyramid Centre and take care of the hire equipment.
